HRANA News Agency – Shahrokh Zamani, the member of the provisional board for reopening of House-Painter Workers’ Union and the Follow-up Committee to Set up Free Labor Organizations is spending the 29th day of his hunger strike.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Shahrokh Zamani has been exiled from Rajai Shahr Prison to Ghezelhesar Prison on March 11th.
“He had been on a 3 days long hunger strike since March 8th in solidarity with Gonabadi Dervishes and has been continuing his hunger strike afterwards because of being exiled to Ghezelhesar Prison.” Said Naghi Mahmoudi, the attorney lawyer
“He has lost 17 kg of his weight during past 28 days and has been taken to the clinic of the prison several times. He also has written 4 letters to the prison authorities, however none them has been answered yet.” He pointed out
Arash Mohammadi, the leftists imprisoned student activist has also started hunger strike since yesterday in solidarity with Shahrokh Zamani.
Shahrokh Zamani was sentenced to 11 years in prison after being arrested on June 8, 2011 in Tabriz.
He had been released on the bail and was arrested again in January 2012 to serve the imprisonment sentence in Tabriz Prison. He has been transferred to different prisons so far. At the first time he was exiled to Yazd prison, however the authorities of Yazd province returned him Tabriz Prison after some months. After serving some months in Tabriz Prison he was transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj and since March 11th he has been exiled to Ghezelhesar Prison in Karaj where there is no other political prisoner.
